The End of Bias

Jessica Nordell

Unconscious bias affects us all, every day of our lives. But it can be overcome. Here are the stories of how change happens.

For the past thirty years, scientists, psychologists, teachers and entrepreneurs have been coming up with ways to overcome our biases and end unconscious discrimination, whether it be on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, religion age or even body type.

In this landmark book, Nordell sets out to meet the people who are finding solutions – from meditating police chiefs to innovative hiring policies – and explains how their discoveries are set to change the world.

The Author

When as young a journalist Jessica Nordell found she wasn’t getting responses to her articles, she started to submit as ‘JD Nordell’. All of a sudden, she was a success. So began a decades-long fascination with unconscious bias that would take her from police meditation camps in the US, to gender-neutral schools in Sweden; from nascent democratic movements in India, to the heart of Silicon Valley. Nordell’s groundbreaking work on bias has appeared in The Atlantic and the New York Times, among other publications. The End of Bias is her first book.
